We managed to park along Jonker Walk as it was still early (parking fees not required at Jonker Walk for Sunday and public holidays according to a signboard). Walked to Hoe Kee and ordered chicken rice for 3 pax. We were served 20 rice balls and a plate of chicken. The bill came up to RM17.20 (RM4 for the rice, RM12 for the chicken, RM1.20 for the drink). I find it difficult to walk around the area as there was no sidewalk and there was a constant stream of buses and cars passing through the narrow street.
We then went to Jonker Dessert 88 and had 3 bowls of chendol (Chendol RM1.70, Eight Precious Chendol RM3.0 and Sago Chendol RM4.0). Only two tables were unoccupied and I chose the table at the back of the shop as the other table was in the inner courtyard and I wouldn't want bombs from birds to land in my bowl. It was a mistake as our nose soon found out. The foul smell from the toilet at the back of the shop made it impossible for me to finish eating my bowl of chendol so I left more than half a bowl uneaten. It was a most unpleasant experience. Should have taken the bowl and finished eating the chendol by standing outside the shop. Anyway I do not like the taste of the "Gula Malacca" (palm sugar or red sugar) used in the chendol. It taste just like Gula Malacca Coconut candy I used to eat when young.
It was too hot to continue walking so we escaped to Mahkota Parade (RM2 parking for 3 hours and RM1.50 for each hour thereafter). Ate 3 slices of cakes (RM6.3 each) at Secret Recipe while we were there - Black Forest, Choc Banana, Choc Strawberry (taste too much like strawberry jam for my liking). We left Malacca at 2pm and reached home by 4pm. The journey home was hot and arduous. 300km in total.
