Actual M's Day

All 5 in 1 went to SWH to eat ckt, pmees and then to drop off 2cs. Then all went to TD to get cakes. Hokkaido cake is not available yet so we waited and bought 3 macarons at RM3.5 each from FB to try. Not as sweet and sticky as D ones. Got the choc, dark choc and i-forgot-what-flavour-it-was maybe-raspberry and share among all.  Waited and got the strawberry Hcake.

Both photos are of the dark choc macaron.

Ordered fen sze starter

2 sets of this and 1 bowl of prawn wantons la mien

Ala carte spinach special price

mango pudding - normal 7ish, with set only RM4

Celebrate too

Went for our 2nd mother's day celebration. Was early as restaurant hours start from 11.30am so we ate angkus kueh and other kuehs - 4 packs (4.8x2). Then drank herbal tea 2. After the meal below total 123 (4 for wet towels@1, 1bowl of rice 1.5, 10% service charge and no government tax), we went grocery shopping and then got 4 cups of ice blended mung bean at 5.5 each (buy 1 get 1 free) so 11 total add on some kueh for 1 so total 12. Back to sleep with sesame garbread as dinner.

Pork Intestine - appetizer

Pork knuckle (minimum must order 2 at RM7.9 each)
Heng Hwa mee hoon - too fine for my taste
Duck with yam
My selection - fish soup (S) - think the fish is siakap
yam dessert - nice

Abacus yam revisit

Decide to eat lunch here after banning eating with chopstick seeing ratatouile there. As usual we ordered claypot fish head thin noodle with bitter gourd and no milk for one pax at RM12. I ate a few mouthfuls of the meehoon.

Instead of eating chicken rice as usual, I ate abacus yam - chose the small portion for RM8 and asked them to put less salt so the dish was nice (not as salty as the previous time I ate it). But when I came home, my breath smelled of garlic. Guess the dish contained lots of minced garlic. We also shared a bowl of barli ginkgo dessert soup at RM2.2 per bowl.

Bilik Han

Early Mother's Day celebration. Total Spent 126.45 (inclusive of govt tax 6% and service charge 10%).  77.73 - the items I selected. Below are the items we ordered and consumed.

Not shown are
1. braised peanuts (by default this will be served and we did not decline) - on the salty side - RM3
2. A pot of tea for five (Jasmine tea - heong pien) - RM10 (RM2 each per pax)

Goose chessnut pastry RM7 - taste does not go well together - the goose taste is too strong for my liking, the pastry buttery taste does not go well with the goose taste. I can not detect the chest nut.

(O)Yam Pastry RM6 - fluffy but at the end, left a lingering taste of alkaline (sodium bicarbonate).

RM 8 Dumplings has large prawns in it. The soup and vege is nice but the claypot has a hairline crack and soup was seeping out onto the dish below. We did not ask it to be replaced but quickly drank the soup before it was drained completely.

RM8 Prawn dumpling - nice.

RM7 Pork dumplings - the meat is too tightly compressed so it was too firm.

(O) RM7 Dry Scallop Vege Prawn Dumpling - nice but the prawn has a tinge of chlorine taste.

RM8 Ginger Century Egg Pork Dumplings -  The ginger on top has been steamed together with the dumplings. It would taste better if it was not.

(O) RM7 Squid Cake - too salty.
RM 7 Salad Prawn - too salty.

RM8 Deep fried glutinous rice with salty egg and meat - oily and not enough glutinous rice.

RM6 BBQ Pork Buns - acceptable.

(O) RM7 Fish paste dumplings - nice. Best of the lot. Can taste the fish meat.

(O) Carp medalion congee RM10 - too watery and gluey and taste like it has lots of MSG in it. Actually I was very thirsty after this meal although I drank lots of tea. Must be the MSG

Verdict: Our first and last visit to this place but may be back for the fish paste dumplings

Arang King

Open eyes. Look at clock. Wow! 10.30am. Get ready for lunch. Decide to try out a new place. Reach there 11.30am. Only 1 table occupied. Look at menu. Place order.

 1. Pork belly claypot rice (small) RM9
 - Opinion is that the rice was not cooked in the claypot. It was cooked elsewhere and then reheated in the claypot. The soysauce used was just salty - flat. I just ate some of the rice.

 2. Marmite fish rice RM7
- I can taste marmite in the sauce (unlike Kong's dish which is sweet) but the fish slices are very thin and more of batter than fish meat so Kong's dish win. The deep fried fish slices are also very salty.

 3. Pepper pork stomach soup RM6.5
- A layer of yellow thick oil floating on top. Have to be removed.

 4. Herbal drink (hot, sweet) RM1.5

 Total spent: RM24
Verdict: Will not return here for meals

Once all over today 1245 to 1330.

Overeat

Walk here and there along the shops looking for something to eat. Spotted bacon meat balls at tou tou so sp ate there while I was just going to have a bit of ccf next door.

Then as I was selected the ccf pieces, I saw the set menu. For RM8.9, the set includes a plate of 7 pieces of ccf (fixed items), 1 deepfried lobako, 1 dessert (a few choices) and 1 bowl of fruits. For another RM1.5, we can add on another bowl of dessert. So I decided to have the set and the add on too.

Some pieces of ccf were dry and hard to be masticated (learned this word from a TVB series, hahaha). The lobako was very oily but I still finished it. Sp chose the egg tea dessert. Said it was nice - the tea was strong.

I chose barli beancurd sheet as the add on dessert. It was gluey with the beancurd sheet no where to be seen. Seems like having plasticizer in it. SL barli ginkgo is nicer.

After eating everything, I was very full. Then we walked to teochew duck restaurant and tapao 2 packs of rice to be eaten as dinner inj.

Continue celebrating

We continued the celebration on the next day. I only took photos of some of our meals.

1. Went again to have the sets. This time, ordered the other 2 sets:
 - sour hot soup noodle (requested for the soup to be served in a separate bowl than the noodle which was a good move because the soup was salty. Add on dessert - glutinous balls in red bean soup
- prawn dumplings noodle. Add on dessert - yam paste ginkgo.

2. My treat - one more sticker to go after this.

Sesame glutinous rice ball - acceptable. Sesame dessert - too much.

\
Pomelo mango lo lo with ice cream - acceptable

Pink guava ice

3. We lingered until 6pm to eat the RM1 braised chicken.

Default peanuts served - not salty so it is nice

RM1 soy sauce chicken - to celebrate the restaurant ? anniversary

Spmi order pork chop rice - forgot exactly how much should be around RM18
